Welcome to the School of Humanities

The School of Humanities is one of three Schools in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at The University of Western Australia, Perth.

Humanities consists of 45 full time academic staff and over 2,200 students across the Discipline Groups:

The School offers both undergraduate and postgraduate (coursework and research) programs.

The School is actively involved in research, receiving two ARC and one Carrick grant in 2007. The School features several active research groups and centres:

Humanities teaching staff were winners at a recent UWA Awards ceremony:

Prof Philippa Maddern, Head of the School, received a Faculty Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning and a UWA Award for Excellence in Teaching for 2008. The University has also nominated her for a national 2008 Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
