What is Adeste Humaniores?
Adeste Humaniores ("Gather around, civilised people!") began
as an enterprise of the Department of Classics and Ancient
History and has now expanded to advance the Humanities'
contribution to the community, and to improve professional
development opportunities for our students.
You may be wondering what the 'School of Humanities' is and what has happened to the
Department you graduated from - French, German, Italian,
History, Philosophy, Linguistics, Classics and Ancient History.
The good news is, we're all still here! But we're now linked
together into one unit - the School of Humanities. We hope that
closer ties between all our disciplines will enable a more
streamlined administration, more collaboration in teaching and
research, and more exchange of news and views generally.
As Adeste, the School offers short courses and special events
in our areas of expertise to the general community through the
UWA Extension programmes.
We are also keen to establish an informal network of former
Humanities students and it would certainly be valuable for us
to have your input and, hopefully, you will find it interesting
and useful to be involved with your old School! Please
contact Christine Lindsey on (08) 6488 4213 or by email if you would like more information.
